Dispensational theology can be defined as a system of theology which attempts to develop the Bible’s philosophy of history on the basis of the sovereign rule of God. It represents the whole of scripture and history as being covered by several dispensations of God’s rule. The word Dispensation is defined as house managing by God. Dispensational theology can be defined as a particular way of God’s administrating His rule over the world as He progressively works out His purpose for world history. The characteristics include a particular way of God’s administrating His rule, a particular responsibility for humans, and characterized by divine revelation which had not been given before in each dispensation. The theologians recognize seven dispensations in history. They are innocency- Genesis 1:26-3:24, conscience- Genesis 4:1-8:19, human government- Genesis 8:20-11:32, promise- Genesis 12-Exodus 18, Mosaic law- giving of law on Mt. Sinai to the death of Jesus Christ, grace, and Millennium or the last dispensation of the Righteous Reign of Jesus Christ.
