Humility

PROVERBS 11:2- WHEN PRIDE COMES, THEN COMES DISGRACE, BUT WITH THE HUMBLE IS WISDOM.

PROVERBS 15:33- THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS INSTRUCTION IN WISDOM, AND HUMILITY COMES BEFORE HONOR.

PROVERBS 18:12- BEFORE DESTRUCTION A HUMAN’S HEART IS HAUGHTY, BUT HUMILITY COMES BEFORE HONOR.

PROVERBS 27:2- LET ANOTHER PRAISE YOU, AND NOT YOUR OWN MOUTH; A STRANGER AND NOT YOUR OWN LIPS.

PSALM 25:9- HE LEADS THE HUMBLE IN WHAT IS RIGHT, AND TEACHES THE HUMBLE HIS WAY.

MATTHEW 23:10-12- NEITHER BE CALLED INSTRUCTORS, FOR YOU HAVE ONE INSTRUCTOR, THE CHRIST.  THE GREATEST AMONG YOU SHALL BE YOUR SERVANT.  WHOEVER EXALTS THEMSELVES WITH BE HUMBLED, AND WHOEVER HUMBLES THEMSELVES WILL BE EXALTED.

JOHN 13:12-17- WHEN HE HAD WASHED THEIR FEET AND PUT ON HIS OUTER GARMENTS AND RESUMED HIS PLACE, HE SAID TO THEM, DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I HAVE DONE TO YOU?  YOU CALL ME TEACHER AND LORD, AND YOU. ARE RIGHT, FOR SO I AM.  IF I THEN, YOUR LORD AND TEACHER, HAVE WASHED YOUR FEET, YOU OUGHT TO WASH ONE ANOTHER’S FEET.  FOR I HAVE GIVEN YOU AN EXAMPLE, THAT YOU ALSO SHOULD DO JUST AS I HAVE DONE TO YOU.  TRULY, TRULY, I SAY TO YOU, A SERVANT IS NOT GREATER THAN THEIR MASTER, NOR IS A MESSENGER GREATER THAN THE ONE WHO SENT THEM.  IF YOU KNOW THESE THINGS, BLESSED ARE YOU IF YOU DO THEM.

ROMANS 12:3- FOR BY THE GRACE GIVEN TO ME I SAY TO EVERYONE AMONG YOU NOT TO THINK OF THEMSELVES MORE HIGHLY THAN THEY OUGHT TO THINK, BUT TO THINK WITH SOBER JUDGMENT, EACH ACCORDING TO THE MEASURE OF FAITH THAT GOD HAS ASSIGNED.

EPHESIANS 4:1-3- I THEREFORE, A PRISONER FOR THE LORD, URGE YOU TO WALK IN A MANNER WORTHY OF THE CALLING TO WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED, WITH ALL HUMILITY AND GENTLENESS, WITH PATIENCE, BEARING WITH ONE ANOTHER IN LOVE, EAGER TO MAINTAIN THE UNITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE BOND OF PEACE.

PHILIPPIANS 2:1-10- SO IF THERE IS ANY ENCOURAGEMENT IN CHRIST, ANY COMFORT FROM LOVE, ANY PARTICIPATION IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, ANY AFFECTION AND SYMPATHY, COMPLETE MY JOY BY BEING OF THE SAME MIND, HAVING THE SAME LOVE, BEING IN FULL ACCORD AND OF ONE MIND.  DO NOTHING FROM SELFISH AMBITION OR CONCEIT, BUT IN HUMILITY COUNT OTHERS MORE SIGNIFICANT THAT YOURSELVES.  LET EACH OF YOU LOOK NOT ONLY TO THEIR OWN INTERESTS, BUT ALSO TO THE INTERESTS OF OTHERS.  HAVE THIS MIND AMONG YOURSELVES, WHICH IS YOURS IN CHRIST JESUS, WHO, THOUGH HE WAS IN THE FORM OF GOD, DID NOT COUNT EQUALITY WITH GOD A THING TO BE GRASPED, BUT EMPTIED HIMSELF, BY TAKING THE FORM OF A SERVANT, BEING BORN IN THE LIKENESS OF MEN.  AND BEING FOUND IN HUMAN FORM, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF BY BECOMING OBEDIENT TO THE POINT OF DEATH, EVEN DEATH ON A CROSS.  THEREFORE GOD EXALTED HIM AND BESTOWED ON HIM THE NAME THAT IS ABOVE EVERY NAME, SO THAT AT THE NAME OF  JESUS EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH AND UNDER THE EARTH, AND EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER.
